Meet Your USCG Master Captain on Lake Lewisville

A Mutineers charter is a captained boat rental on Lake Lewisville, run by Captain Mitch, a USCG Master Captain with more than 30 years on the water. A licensed captain is at the helm for the entire outing. That is who you are booking with when you book Mutineers.

Who runs a Mutineers charter? Captain Mitch runs every charter from the helm. He is a USCG Master Captain, the U.S. Coast Guard's Master-grade license, and he has spent more than 30 years on the water.

That license is not a formality. A USCG Master Captain has passed Coast Guard testing, logged documented sea time, and met the medical standard the Coast Guard requires to carry paying passengers. The person steering your boat charter has been vetted to do exactly that.

Mutineers Charter Services is veteran-owned. Captain Mitch holds a U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain license. The boats are Texas Parks and Wildlife inspected and carry commercial insurance.

Captain-led, start to finish

At the Helm on Charter Day

What does Captain Mitch handle once you are aboard? He runs the boat for the whole charter, so your group never has to.

1Plans the route

Before you leave the dock, he plans the route for your time on the water and checks conditions on Lake Lewisville.

2Keeps watch the whole time

While you are out, he keeps watch on the weather and on other boat traffic. He holds the controls the entire time.

3Handles docking and anchoring

He handles the docking and the anchoring at each stop, which are the parts of a day on the water that go wrong fastest without an experienced captain.

4Covers the safety basics

At the start of the charter he covers the safety basics with your group, including where the life jackets are and what to expect once you are moving.

That hands-on, captain-led operation is the practical side of the credentials, and it is what lets everyone aboard relax.

Local operator, home water

Veteran-Owned and Local

Beyond the captain's license, who is behind Mutineers? Mutineers is veteran-owned and based on Lake Lewisville, so this is a local operator running its own boats on its home water, not a booking middleman.

The boats launch from Arrowhead Park in Hickory Creek, on the south end of the lake. Captain Mitch and the crew run the lake regularly, so they know its coves, its traffic, and its conditions.

That home base puts a Lake Lewisville charter within easy reach of DFW. Most of Dallas-Fort Worth is a short drive from the Arrowhead Park launch, so the trip works for a day out without a long haul.

The credential, not a promise

Licensed, Inspected and Insured

Why does a USCG-licensed captain matter? It matters because the captain is legally responsible for the vessel and trained to run it safely, which an unlicensed operator is not. A USCG Master Captain has met the Coast Guard's testing, sea-time, and medical requirements to carry paying passengers.

Every Mutineers charter is captained by a licensed captain for that reason. You are not handed the wheel and left to figure out the lake.

The boats are inspected by Texas Parks and Wildlife and carry commercial insurance. Inspection confirms the vessel meets state safety standards, and commercial insurance covers a paid charter in a way a private boat's policy does not.

What This Means for Your Charter

Guests aboard a Mutineers boat on Lake Lewisville
You relaxThe captain drives

For your group, a captained charter means no one has to stay sober to drive the boat, because the licensed captain is already driving it. Everyone gets to relax, and the person who would normally be stuck steering can join in.

This is the core of how a captained outing works, and it is covered in full on the pillar page: our captained boat rental on Lake Lewisville.

What a charter costs depends on the boat and the length of your outing, and those details live on the charter pricing page.
