Self-drive rentals (offered by other operators, not Mutineers)
require at least one designated operator with a Texas boater education card (mandatory for anyone born after September 1, 1993). Self-drive rentals are typically limited to smaller pontoons (20–24 ft), come with a security deposit and damage liability, and restrict your group to a single inexperienced operator on a busy lake.

Not every boat offering charters on Lake Lewisville is legally authorized to do so. Unlicensed operators may offer lower prices, but they are not regulated or inspected by the Coast Guard Auxiliary or Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. These vessels may lack proper safety equipment, commercial insurance, and operator licensing. Weekday rates run 15–20% below weekend pricing. Holiday surcharges apply on major holidays, including a premium Holiday Prime tier for peak time slots like the July 4th Fireworks Evening Charter. Full-day charters require a 10-hour contract minimum. All pricing includes captain, crew, safety equipment, and sound system — no fuel surcharges, no hidden fees.
Many groups split the cost among attendees — even on the flagship Gypsy Danger, a 50-person weekend midday charter works out to approximately $53 per person for four hours on the water.

Charters proceed if water conditions are safe — Texas weather is unpredictable, and rain and sunshine can alternate throughout a single day. Foul weather is an understood risk of outdoor water experiences. Unless the Coast Guard issues an advisory or prohibits watercraft, any weather cancellation refund requires owner approval. If the owner cancels due to unsafe conditions and the guest also wants to cancel day-of (approved by the Fleet Commander), a minimum service fee applies with an 80% refund offered or a rescheduled date. Prep work and staff costs justify the service fee. Rescheduling is attempted within reason, but boats are typically booked 3–4 weeks out on weekends.
Yes. BYOB beer, wine, and champagne are welcome aboard for guests 21+. The captain operates sober at all times. Restrictions apply: no red drinks (red wine, fruit punch, etc.), no dishes containing rice, and no high heels on deck — these protect vessel surfaces. Absolutely. All four Mutineers vessels have swim deck access with a boarding ladder. Your captain anchors in one of Lake Lewisville’s sheltered coves where the water is calm and the bottom is sandy — your group jumps straight from the swim deck into the lake. Water toys including lily pads, swim noodles, and whale tails are available. Most 4-hour charters include at least one anchor-and-swim stop.
Weekend charters during peak season (May–September) book 2–3 weeks in advance. Holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day) often fill a month out.
