Lake Lewisville Charter FAQs

These Lake Lewisville charter FAQs answer the questions guests ask most before booking a captained boat charter. The page covers licensing, cost, BYOB, life jackets, swimming, kids, parking, and the booking policy. A USCG-licensed captain runs every Mutineers charter, so you board with a captain at the helm for the full trip.

  • Do You Need a License or a Captain?

No - a USCG-licensed captain runs every Mutineers charter, so you never need a boating license or any prior experience. The captain handles navigation, docking, and on-water safety for the entire booking. A licensed captain matters because that operator carries commercial insurance and a Texas Parks & Wildlife safety inspection, which an unlicensed operator cannot promise. That captained model covers the whole fleet, from party yachts to ski boats. See our captained boat rental on Lake Lewisville.

  • How Much Does a Charter Cost?

A charter is priced per charter, not per person, and the rate depends on the vessel, the day, and how long you book. The full rate table lives on one page so pricing stays consistent across the site. Check charter pricing for current rates, then call or text to confirm your date and group size.

  • Do Charters Include Life Jackets?

Yes - every charter carries life jackets in standard adult and children's sizes at no extra cost. Special-needs sizes, such as those above XXL or for a very small child, are guest-provided. Tell us your group's needs when you book so the captain can confirm the right fit is aboard before departure.

  • BYOB & What You Can Bring

Yes - you can bring your own food and drinks, and Mutineers charters are BYOB for guests 21 and older. A few rules keep the vessel clean and safe: no red-colored drinks, no dishes containing rice, and no high heels on deck. Mutineers does not supply ice or towels and does not coordinate catering, though the crew can share preferred-vendor recommendations.

  • Are Kids Welcome? Can We Swim?

Yes - kids are welcome on every captained charter, and the all-ages, family-safe setup is a common reason families book the boat. Guests can swim when the captain anchors at a calm spot such as Party Cove, always under the captain's direction. The captain decides when and where swimming is safe, because conditions on Lake Lewisville shift through the day.

  • What's Included & Do We Tip the Captain?

Your charter includes the vessel, fuel, the USCG-licensed captain, life jackets, and on-water safety gear for the booked time. Charter time covers loading and unloading the vessel, not only the time underway. Tipping the captain and crew is customary and appreciated when you enjoy the trip, but it is never required.

  • Parking & Getting There

Charters launch from Arrowhead Park in Hickory Creek on Lake Lewisville. Parking there is $5 per vehicle per day, paid by card, debit, or ATM card only, because the park gate does not accept cash. Plan to arrive about 15 minutes early so the captain can get your group aboard on time.

  • Booking, Deposit & Weather

A 50% deposit reserves your date, and that deposit is non-refundable. The remaining balance is due 15 days before the charter date. The captain makes the weather call on the water. An owner-approved weather cancellation carries a service fee - call or text to book for the current figure and terms.
